Neuro-morphism: mimicking the nervous system

Mankind has often been inspired by nature to develop successful technologies. This strategy, however, is not always the best one. Airplanes don't flap their wings to take off, and no animal uses wheels to move around! That's why biorobotics researchers ask themselves: Should we mimic the nervous system (neuro-morphism) or not? On one hand it could be better to develop more suitable models to inorganic materials and parts used in robotics. On the other hand, we must acknowledge that the nervous system is quite robust - it keeps working even if damaged - and is energetically efficient. In particular, neuro-prostheses interact better and faster with the nervous system if they share a common language.
