  • Acephalous statuette of Crysippus

This is a statuette of an elderly figure sitting on a high-backed chair with feline feet. A simple cloak falls from his shoulders to midway down his legs and he is wearing sandals on his feet. The detail of the left hand closed in a fist and the right originally outstretched ensures its positive identification as Crysippus (281/277-208/204 BC), the Stoic philosopher from Soli in Cilicia.
