The life and works of Archimedes have come through 2300 years of history. The image of Archimedes has always fascinated people, not only for the extraordinary machines he is traditionally said to have invented but also for the hugely significant results of his research, traces of which live on in his writings. Archimedes' brilliant geometric and mechanical intuitions are so complex that they are only understood by a handful of scholars. Now, to introduce the broader public to them, we have created a number of working models that illustrate the principal aspects of Archimedes' research and his outstanding achievements in practical applications.
