The barrel-maker’s bicycle
(First half of the 20th century)
In wine-producing areas the barrel-maker’s work was highly important. It consisted of constructing and repairing wooden vessels such as barrels, vats and casks. The barrel-maker too used a bicycle to reach places where his work was required, bringing with him the indispensable tools: a vice, clamps, a funnel and planes, and a sample collection consisting of small casks and buckets.
