"The greatest declination of the sun toward the north, which is the other inclination of the ecliptic, is situated at 33°51' [sic 23°51’] and describes the tropic of Cancer. The inclination towards the south describing the tropic of Capricorn is the greatest declination of the sun towards the south. The distance between the Arctic Circle and the tropic of Cancer is the same as the distance between the tropic of Capricorn and the Antarctic Circle, 42°18'." (Cosmographiae introductio, chap.
