Opticae thesaurus Alhazeni … omnes instaurati, figuris illustrati & aucti, adiectis etiam in Alhazenum commentarijs a Federico Risnero (facsimile)
The author of numerous studies, Alhazen (c. 965-1039) owes his fame primarily to research in the field of optics. Translated by the Polish monk Witelo, his studies were also widely disseminated in the Western world. This edition presents the works of Alhazen and Witelo in a single volume, facilitating readers' opportunity to cross reference the two texts. Archimedes was known in the Arab world both as the author of texts and as an inventor of hugely effective mechanisms for the defence of Syracuse. They were also familiar with the story of burning mirrors, referred to in the famous plate at the start of his work.
