Amphora

1st century A.D.
Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Napoli e Pompei
Inv. 14190

In the cellar of the domus the amphorae stood side-by-side, leaning one against another. After having been emptied, they were sometimes stored upside-down, in parallel and overlying rows, with the point of the lower one stuck into the mouth of the one above it.
