In the Ptolemaic system, the “planets” comprise the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Their spheres rotate in a uniform and constant motion between the Earth, placed at the center of the system, and the sphere of the fixed stars. (Curator’s note)
