Aries
This is the only survivor of the pair of rams discovered by Frederick II among the ruins of Syracuse and placed above the entrance of Castello Maniace. The two rams arrived in Syracuse from Constantinople at the beginning of the 13th century. A recent hypothesis dates the ram to the mid-Imperial Age and suggests that it was part of a group reproducing Polyphemus' flock, probably inspired by a work of the 2nd-1st century BC.
