The two figures have been interpreted in various ways ever since their discovery. The more convincing reference seems to be to the dyad Apollo/Artemis, supported by innumerable iconographic comparisons, in addition to the presence of the tripod in the centre and, for the figure on the left, the fawn skin (nebris) he is holding in his left hand, which surely refers to the god's sister.
