Screw
According to Plutarch (Marcellus, XIV), Archimedes had publicly stated that with a given force he could move any weight, even the Earth, if he had another one on which to stand. A demonstration was required, and so Archimedes opted for moving a ship from the royal fleet. The model shows the device, using a worm screw, with which the Syracusan would have managed to move the ship slightly.
