The "Syracusan type" Telamones show the Satyr dressed in a short goatskin skirt, the same kind worn by actors when they interpreted the personage in the theatre. The pair was found in the room of a rich building. A pair of Caryatids was also found in an adjoining room.. Both these pairs, depicted with their arms bent holding up a weight, may have been anchored to a pilaster using metal pins. They may have had a support function, especially in light of the thickness of the clay.
