  • Elephant protome dripstone

This is a fairly unusual artefact and one for which no comparisons have been found. The provenance suggests its use as a decorative element on a fountain from one of the residences in the Achradina district, richly decorated with painted plaster, relief stuccowork, marble. The elephant is a subject that refers to relations with Africa.
